Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine (Part .1)...Shrine dedicated to Sugawara Michizane

-Every year around January or February, when the news of plum blossoms arrive, many students for entrance examinations visit Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine (Dazaifu City, Fukuoka Prefecture). This is because the shrine is dedicated to Sugawara no Michizane, known as the god of learning.


-Sugawara Michizane was an elite aristocrat who was blessed with literary talent from an early age and became a "Doctor of Letters" and later became the Minister of the Right.


-In 901, he was transferred from the capital to Dazaifu in Kyushu, where he tragically passed away two years later. The following is an introduction to Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine, which is associated with Sugawara no Michizane, a man of light and shadow. /

 

太宰府天満宮(その1)…菅原道真公を祭った神社

 

-毎年1~2月頃、梅の花の便りが届くこの時季は、多くの受験生が太宰府天満宮(福岡県太宰府市)に足を運びます。なぜなら、学問の神様として知られる菅原道真公を祭った神社であるからです。

 

-道真公は幼いころから文才に恵まれ「文章博士」となり、その後右大臣に就任した超エリート貴族です。

 

-彼は901年、都から九州の太宰府に左遷され悲運にも2年後にこの地で亡くなりました。そんな光と影に彩られた菅原道真公ゆかりの太宰府天満宮をご紹介します。
