《59》Saga Journey - Arita-yaki (Part 1)...Arita is the birthplace of Japanese porcelain
- During Toyotomi Hideyoshi's invasion of Korea (1592-1598), the Japanese warlords brought back many potters from Korea. One of them was a Korean potter named Yi Sam-pyeong (Japanese name: Kanagae Sanbee).
- Later (around 1615), Yi Sam-pyeong discovered good quality and abundant pottery stones, the raw material for porcelain, in the Izumiyama area of Arita, and succeeded in producing porcelain for the first time in Japan.
- This was the beginning of Arita-yaki, the main specialty of the Saga clan during the Edo period. From these origins, Arita (today's Arita Town, Nishimatsuura County, Saga Prefecture) became the birthplace of porcelain in Japan.

佐賀の旅-有田焼（その１）…有田は日本の磁器発祥の地
- 豊臣秀吉の朝鮮出兵（1592年～1598年）で、日本の武将たちは朝鮮から多くの陶工を連れ帰りました。そのひとりが朝鮮人陶工の李参平(日本名は金ヶ江三兵衛)でした。
- その後（1615年頃）、李参平は有田の泉山の地で磁器の原料である良質で豊富な陶石を発見し、日本国内で初めて磁器の生産に成功しました。
- これが、江戸時代における佐賀藩の主要特産品となる有田焼の始まりでした。このような由来から、有田（現在の佐賀県西松浦郡有田町）は日本の磁器発祥の地となりました。
